Work experience in the Semarang City Planning Office

Hello respected teachers. My name is Stephanus Edsel O.P., I am from Semarang, and I am a student of SMK 4 Semarang. I am majoring in Building Modelling and Information Design and am now in grade 12. In my major lessons, I learned to draw buildings and calculate the Budget Plan commonly referred to as RAB.  On this occasion, I was given an assignment for an internship. I decided to do my internship at the Spatial Planning Office because it suits my major related to buildings.

The Spatial Planning Office or what we call DISTARU is located in the Semarang City government, so the DISTARU building is located inside Semarang City Hall. Many sections in this department handle all building issues in the city of Semarang. The section in this DISTARU includes spatial planning, building planning, land, construction services, and secretariat. Each of these fields has its function in the development of Semarang City and each of these sections has one head of the field who leads a section. My job is in the construction sector. This building system section serves 5 jobs, namely: Building approval (PBG), certification of function (SLF), billboard, cultural heritage, and building supervision.

In this office, especially in the section of Building Code, we are guided and taught by many people. My friends and I also gained a lot of knowledge from everyone in this section such as calculating building drawings by KRK (City Plan Description), drawing plans of buildings affected by GSB (Building Line) or GSJ (Road Line) violations, compiling building data in Semarang City, arranging billboards, and we were also invited to socialize PBG in each sub-district in Semarang City.

In the Semarang City Spatial Planning Agency, especially in the field of building planning, all the people are friendly, polite, fun, cool, and disciplined in their duties. The place is also comfortable and strategic to reach. If there is an event, we are invited to participate in the event. Here we are also guided when we are given tasks until we understand. Maybe that's all I can convey about my experience during these 3 months of internship at DISTARU, and I apologize if any writing or words are wrong and less pleasing to me.
